We couldn't do it without you.

Friends Of The Observatory (FOTO) volunteers help connect to the community. As a member of the volunteer team, you'll collaborate with staff and other volunteers to support and promote Griffith Observatory.

Friends Of The Observatory volunteers help support Griffith Observatory as a:

Membership Recruiter (Support membership and volunteer drives at and away from Griffith Observatory)

Special Event Supporter (Event support such as check-in, guest greeting, and guest seating [requires Monday evening availability])

Development Aide (Work with our Development team researching grants and finding new ways to support Griffith Observatory)

Supporting FOTO and Griffith Observatory with other as needed assistance!

It is important to understand that these tasks do NOT involve any kind of interpretive work of the museum exhibits or of astronomy and that the Observatory has guide staff to fulfill this need. If that would interest you, please check to seek current openings.

All volunteers are registered with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Volunteers must be fingerprinted and cleared by the City prior to beginning any volunteer work.

Please note that our minimum volunteer age is 18, as Friends Of The Observatory follows guidelines set by Griffith Observatory’s own staffing requirements.
