Not only is Griffith a museum of fascinating exhibits, but we have the most looked through telescope of any in the world right on the roof, we have a planetarium theater that utilizes the most state-of-the-art technology with planetarium shows specifically designed just for Griffith Observatory presented by a live person (not a pre-recorded voice)and we have developed and present a wonderful 5th grade School Field Trip program choreographed and organized around the California curriculum standards.

View the Actual Sky with Help from Griffith Observatory Telescopes, Instruments, and Trained Observers! Griffith J. Griffith wanted the public to have the opportunity to look through a telescope, which he felt might broaden human perspective. Griffith Observatory continues with that tradition and encourages everyone in Looking Up! The Observatory provides a variety of opportunities to observe and enjoy the sky both day and night.

Only FOTO members are able to pre-reserve tickets to the Samuel Oschin Planetarium show . And get a discount on the tickets! And receive a confirmation letter that provides you with guaranteed parking at the Observatory! And, after picking up and paying for your tickets in your own special line (at the Center of Gravity desk), you can just stroll over to the South Gallery adjacent to the Samuel Oschin Planetarium theater and wait in complete comfort indoors until show time, when your Speed of Light access as a FOTO member means that you will be invited to enter the theater first.
